Eyecare: Diabetes, Vision and Blindness

Diabetes is the leading cause of blindness in adults under the age of 74 in the United States. Historically thought of as an adult disease, diabetes affects children too. Poor diet and a lack of exercise put children at risk. Often optometrists detect it first through routine eye exams. As part of National Diabetes Month, Dr. Kimberly Friedman of the New Jersey Society of Optometric Physicians appears on CN8's "Your Morning" to remind us of the importance of having regular comprehensive eye exams.
