1 hr. NJSBO TPA credit PENDING
Speaker: Meghan Elkins, OD, FAAO
Doctors need to be comfortable with providing patient education on systemic pathologies and ocular manifestations. This course seeks to give a doctor a good grasp on sleep apnea: its presentation, testing, treatment, and risks. The course highlights how the pathophysiology of sleep apnea can uniquely affect the eyes. It will also help doctors effectively communicate with other health care professionals in the context of sleep apnea and the eye.
11:15 AM – 12:05 PM Drug Diversion, Prescribing Implications and the Opioid Epidemic
1 hr. Oral NJSBO Credit PENDING (this course satisfies the 1 hour NJSBO Opioid education requirement)
Speaker: Meghan Elkins, OD, FAAO
This course is targeted towards both doctors of optometry who do not want to use or obtain DEA licensure and those that do. It also allows for improved understanding of drug diversion strategies patients utilize for those doctors who do have DEA licensure. Cases will be reviewed with possible treatment options for DEA and non-DEA licensed prescribers.
CE Credit Disclaimer: Webinar courses will be New Jersey State Board of Optometrists (NJSBO) approved only (non-COPE courses). If you are licensed in any other state, it is your responsibility to check with that state's Optometry Board to inquire if these courses will be accepted. Course outlines and speaker CVs will be added to the NJSOP event handout hub should you need to apply for approval for states not listed above.
