This course will provide an update and thorough understanding of the flash flicker electroretinogram (ffERG), proper indications and protocols, and how to interpret the results. Diabetic retinopathy has historically been evaluated and followed with structural tests (DFE's, OCT's and fundus photos), this lecture will explore functional testing (ERG) and newer OCT testing (OCT-A) that helps in the evaluation of diabetic patients, and will also discuss the newest literature in regards to supplementation of diabetic retinopathy patients.

This interactive presentation will review and update these optometric surgical procedures including indications, contraindications, risks, complications, treatment protocols, and pre- and post-op management.

Keratoconus (KCN) is a progressive corneal disease. When left undetected and untreated, it may result in severe visual impairment. Early disease detection combined with timely treatment can prevent unnecessary loss of vision in KC patients. Thus, it’s essential for optometrists to know the most updated management recommendations and developing treatments.  This course will discuss the newly evolved KCN management paradigm including most current detection technologies and a diverse range of adjunctive treatment innovations.

This course will discuss customizing contact lens fitting strategies when unexpected clinical circumstances arise in both regular and irregular cornea patients. Patient cases will be utilized to highlight specialty lens designs, fitting concepts, and their potential to change our patients’ lives.

This course outlines a number of interesting grand rounds style imaging-focused anterior and posterior segment cases. Contained within this lecture is also a more in depth look at one case involving longstanding optic atrophy and incidental maculopathy. The value of comprehensive clinical approach and extensive diagnostic workup are illustrated in the management of more complex cases as discussed in this lecture. 

This course explains the often unknown and misunderstood advantages (and disadvantages) that independent practices and retail chain optical stores have in relation to each other in an increasingly competitive eye care market. It also clarifies the crucial importance of capture rates, and how managing each patient’s eye care experience from start to finish benefits not only the practice, but patients as well. This class provides practical, cost effective concepts that are easy to implement and will measurably improve patient retention levels. This course is especially recommended for those who do not currently monitor capture rates or have experienced a decrease in recent years, and desire to do a better job in this critical area.
