9:20 AM – 10:10 AM OD’s Role in Addressing the Silent Killers: Diabetes, Hypertension, and Dyslipidemia

Early detection of ocular findings associated with diabetes, hypertension, and dyslipidemia can prevent and reduce visual impairment and more importantly premature death from these conditions. This course will provide the latest information on diagnostic strategies and treatment advances to help clinicians improve patient outcomes and preserve vision.

10:30 AM – 11:20 AM Tackle Toxicity – Medication-Induced Retinal Complications

This course presents the latest information, clinical presentations, diagnostic findings, and management of medications, including newer medications induced vision-threatening retinal toxicities.
11:20 AM – 12:10 PM Pharmacology Update
COPE # 83042-PH / NJSBO # 904-2023- 1 hour NJSBO Oral Credit
The goal of this course is to provide the latest information about key systemic medications that are used to treat and manage common eye conditions.
About Our Speaker
Dr. Sherrol A. Reynolds is a graduate of the University of Florida and Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry. She is an Associate Professor of Optometry at Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry and the director of the Retina Clinic. She is a Fellow in the American Academy of Optometry and the Optometric Retina Society.
She served as president of the National Optometric Association (NOA) from 2017- 2021 and currently serves as past president. She was awarded the National Optometric Association Optometrist of the Year in 2013. She is the recipient of the 2021 Women in Optometry Leadership award and the American Optometric Association (AOA) 2021 President’s Award.
She is a planning group member of the National Eye Institute (NEI) National Eye Health Education Program (NEHEP) and currently serves as co-chair of the Eye Health, My Health: Eye Health for African Americans. She participated in numerous events addressing diversity, equity, and inclusion in the profession, including the SUNY Race in Optometry panel series. She also served as a member of the Prevent Blindness scientific committee, served as chair of the Florida Optometric Association Healthy Eye Healthy People committee, Women in Optometry Board member, and a monthly columnist for the Optometric Management Journal Retina column.
Dr. Reynolds was the only optometrist who contributed to the 2022 American Diabetes Association (ADA) Compendia that provided health care professionals with up-to-date information and best practices for treating diabetes and related complications.

NJSOP CE Event Registration Refund Policy
In the event a NJSOP continuing education event attendee wishes to rescind their event registration, refunds may be requested through email or by mail to NJSOP. Refund requests received at least 30 days or more before the event will receive a full refund. Requests made 14-29 days before the event will receive a 50% refund. Refunds will not be issued within 14 days of the event. However, registered attendees who experience an extenuating circumstance that prevents them from attending the event can request refund consideration via email or by mail. Refunds will be provided in the manner in which the registered attendee paid.
