Optometrist (East Brunswick, NJ) Perform vision tests and analyze results with vision chart and other instruments. Vision tests include visual acuity test, refractive error test, color vision test, binocular visual function test and stereoscopic vision test. Diagnose vision problems, such as myopia, astigmatism, hyperopia and presbyopia. Prescribe eyeglasses, contact lens and other vision aids. Diagnose binocular problems and develop treatment plans for patients. Diagnose ocular diseases, including glaucoma, cataract and retinal disease. Prescribe medications to treat eye diseases. Cooperate with Ophthalmologist and provide pre- and postoperative eye care to patients undergoing eye surgeries. Cooperate with other healthcare providers to provide eye exam. Provide eye exam reports to and refer patients to other healthcare providers as needed. Promote eye health by counseling patients and educating patients, including explaining visual hygiene, contact lens safety, myopia control, eye diseases prevention, blood sugar and blood pressure control, and how systemic diseases affect vision. Doctor of Optometry with NJ license to practice with Oral medication license. Must have 2 years training in medical optometry including clinical patient care, refractive and cataract surgeries.
